Hannelore Dekeyser

Legal advisor at the Belgian data protection authority

Hannelore Dekeyser obtained her law degree at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 2001.

She spent the academic year 2000-2001 as an exchange student at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in Germany.  In 2002 she obtained a DES degree in ICT-law and administration from the Facultés Universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix Namur.

From 2002 until 2008, she was researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law and ICT (ICRI -K.U.Leuven - IBBT) where she focused on various legal aspects of digital archiving, including issues related to data protection, copyright and evidence law.

Since September 2008, she has worked as a legal advisor at the Commission for the Protection of Privacy. Data protection in archives continues to be one of her areas of interest.
